Setting sights on venture capital.

Our Future is Wide Open. More than just a catchy phrase, it's a commitment to the province of Saskatchewan's opportunities for growth and development. Investment Future Forum is a one-and-a-half day event with a goal to match new and expanding ventures for Saskatchewan with interested investors. Investee companies and investment capital companies will come together in a dynamic showcase event featuring an investment forum, trade show and some of the nation's top speakers. The forum will take place April 10 and 11 at the Delta Bessborough The Delta Bessborough hotel is a four star ten-story hotel located in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. It was built by Canadian National Railway from 1928 to 1932 and is designed in the same Château-style as many of Canada's other railway hotels.  in Saskatoon Saskatoon (săskətn`), city (1991 pop. 186,058), S central Sask., Canada, on the South Saskatchewan River. .

Investment Future Forum is a rare opportunity for carefully selected new and expanding ventures to present themselves to interested investors, and promises to be an investment opportunity of the first degree. The forum will feature some of Western Canada's leading-edge, start-up and growth companies, along with investors and venture capital industry stakeholders from across Canada Across Canada was an afternoon program that formerly aired on The Weather Network. The segment ran from early 1999 until mid 2002. The show ran from 3:00PM ET until 7:00 PM ET.  and the U.S.

"Investment Future Forum is an excellent mechanism to help foster CIC's (Crown Investments Corporation) mission to support Saskatchewan's economic growth," says Frank Hart, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  Crown Investments Corporation of Saskatchewan.

"As the facilitator of the forum, working with our partners, we've assembled an impressive mix of investment opportunities and investors who will come together to pursue new developments in Saskatchewan," Hart continues. "The forum has attracted interest not only from Saskatchewan companies and investors but also from investment companies outside Saskatchewan including other parts of Canada and the U.S. These are top-level venture capital firms Name Location Founding date Managing Partners/Directors Specialty Capital managed

that are looking to invest in Saskatchewan, in our people, and in businesses that are growing here in Saskatchewan."

"As for the businesses seeking capital, the quality of the investee companies is outstanding. We anticipate that the forum will result in a number of new investment matches and perhaps even some deals right at the conference."

Investment Future Forum invites investee companies to be among the selected presenters at the event. Based on established criteria, the business investment experts at Deloitte and Touche will review all qualified submissions and make the final recommendation of participating companies. The firm will then conduct an "investee boot camp Software from Apple that enables an Intel x86-based Macintosh to host the Windows XP operating system. Boot Camp is used to divide the hard disk into Windows and Mac partitions, to install the necessary drivers and to create a dual boot environment. " with select growth companies to help them prepare for and target appropriate sources of capital at the event. Boot camp will educate investees to successfully obtain the financing they require.

"From a value perspective, the selected investees receive a full day of investment attraction training at 'boot camp' prior to the event' says Shelley Legin, vice-president, business development and investment funds Noun 1. investment funds - money that is invested with an expectation of profit

. "This training provides insight and methods to promote investment in their new and emerging business. This approach provides a mechanism to further educate entrepreneurs in the area of financing and business case preparation."

Those selected to present will have the opportunity to establish relationships with individual investors, venture capital companies, institutional investors and other entrepreneurs. Also in the audience will be investment advisors, business representatives, government officials and other investees.

time period: the desired outcome, a dynamic presentation that will serve to attract the required investment capital. Given the energy level and passionate performance that accompanies such a presentation, the investees are certain to inspire, enlighten and even entertain the investment-savvy audience.

"I see this Forum as a great event for private VC's like Golden Opportunities," says Grant Kook, CEO of Golden Opportunities Fund. "Traditionally, this type of event is held in larger centres in Canada and the U.S. But with the increased activity in the investment sector in Saskatchewan, I am encouraged by the opportunity to be a part of it. Investment Future Forum will create interest, attract attention and make the investment environment in this province more exciting than ever."

"For funds like ours, that's a welcome sign of growth."

Selected companies will be seeking $500,000 to $10 million in capital for start-up or growth. Ventures predominately in the agricultural value-added, biotechnology, forestry, information technology, mining and manufacturing sectors are preferred.

"The forum is a step towards the goal of seeing Saskatchewan's increased investment activity trend continue: by creating the opportunity for companies in the start-up and expansion phase to interact with investors, we are, in effect, fast-tracking the economic growth process," Legin says.

"Saskatchewan has such a strong potential for continued growth that this event is a natural, at this time, and well into the future," concurs Zach Douglas, senior vice-president, investments with CIC. "Investment Future Forum is just one more way we can ensure that continued economic stimulation is always 'top of mind' in this province."

"MacDonald and Associates, Canada's VC experts, recently reported that while the rest of the country is in a downturn for disbursements and financings, activity has actually increased in Saskatchewan compared to last year," Douglas continues.

"That's good news," he adds, "and we're committed to seeing that trend continue in the province. It's a new approach for us, and we feel confident that it's going to make a positive, and lasting contribution."

Investment Future Forum features the keynote speaker Leonard Brody (Ipreo, co-author of Innovation Nation: From Jurassic Park to Java), who is joined by Susan- Smith. (RBC RBC red blood cell.
