"Servlets" are small Java applications that run on web servers in lieu of Common Gateway Interface (cgi) scripts. There are several reasons to consider using a servlet, including superior performance, infinite flexibility, and cross-platform capability.

The interACT form processor allows end-users to create and maintain interactive HTML HTML

forms without the need to program server-side scripts for processing. The interACT system is comprised of three components: an Administration tool for user maintenance; a User tool for forms maintenance; and the dynamic form parser for use with user created HTML forms.

Servlet Inc. submitted interACT to the independent laboratory, KeyLabs, where it was tested to ensure it adhered to Sun's standard and was truly platform independent. Servlet's interACT product is the first Java dynamic forms processor to attain 100% Pure Java certification.

"Our interACT product is an easy way for ISPs to get their feet wet using servlets and provide a valuable service to their web hosting customers. An end-user may compose and publish an interactive HTML form with unparalleled ease thanks to interACT," said Michael Harding, Chief Technical Officer and co-founder of Servlet Inc.

The only requirement for using interACT is a servlet enabled web server like Java Web Server A Web server from Sun that ran under Solaris and NT. It supported Java servlets and JavaServer Pages (JSP) technology. Version 2.0 was the final release of the product, which was created to provide an upgrade path to servlet processing (Servlet API 2.1) for prior Java Web Server customers.  from Sun, Microsoft Internet Information Server See IIS.
