Service is at the Center of BellSouth's Commitment to Competition; Service Experts Testify in Day 2 of Long Distance Hearing.
TALLAHASSEE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 12, 2001
BellSouth's commitment to provide competitive local carriers a high level of service and non-discriminatory access to its network were the primary focus at the second day of Florida Public Service Commission (FPSC) hearings into allowing the company into long distance.
"Our corporation provides a high level of service to all competitive carriers who use our network to deliver services to their end user customers," said Lacher. "Everything we do in dealing with our wholesale customers is performed with quality in mind. Any problems that occur are certainly the exception and not the rule."
Earlier this year BellSouth opened the Local Carrier Service Center (LCSC), a 360-person facility, near Jacksonville, devoted to offering competitive carriers the best service the company can offer. The service representatives at the LCSC are committed to giving excellent service to telecommunications companies who use the BellSouth network to deliver service to their customers.
BellSouth also described a process that provides competitive carriers with access to information that supports their ability to deploy and market broadband service in Florida.
To address service issues, the PSC has set up third party testing that consists of measuring more than 1800 different indices. Both PSC Commissioners and industry experts have called the current third party testing in Florida the most detailed in the country.
"I believe our compliance in participating in the most scrutinized third party testing proceedings in the country says volumes to our commitment in providing a high level of service to all our wholesale customers. BellSouth has built a solid reputation for providing quality service to our residential and business customers. That philosophy in our corporate culture isn't selective. It has definitely carried over to local competitive companies that employ us," said Lacher.
