Service Technicians Honored for Heroic Deeds.

Clay Heston, a service technician for The Drees Company and a resident of Westmore Apartments, was recently honored by the Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association (GCNKAA GCNKAA Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association (Covington, KY) ) for saving a three-year-old girl whose apartment building was on fire.

During the April fire, Cierra Dickson and her mother were trapped in their third-floor apartment home when Heston heard the mother say she had to drop her daughter to safety. He caught the girl to save her from the fire that critically injured another resident.

 affiliate, presented Heston an honorary plaque, a proclamation from the City of Cincinnati and a gift certificate to a local restaurant.

Employee Cited for Bravery by RMMHA

Joe Segura, a service technician at Gateway Village in Fort Morgan Fort Morgan can apply to two places in the United States:

, Colo., recently received the "Above and Beyond" award from the Rocky Mountain Mutual Housing Association (RMMHA) for his actions during a fire in an apartment home at Gateway Village.

Segura entered the burning apartment home to make sure no one remained inside after noticing three children standing outside the door. After determining the apartment home was empty, Segura and another resident brought the fire under control with three extinguishers before the fire department arrived.

Smoke inhalation typically occurs in victims or firefighters caught in structural fires.

) recently selected Sanford Goldston, chairman of The Wallick Companies, as the recipient of the 2000 Sidney Spector Memorial Award. This award is given annually to that individual who has given exemplary service and dedication to the field of housing for the elderly.

Goldston was cited not only for his long-standing involvement in the development and creation of quality affordable housing for the elderly, but also for providing elderly residents the opportunity to "age in place" with dignity.

Goldston previously served as executive vice president of The Wallick Companies. Upon the death of its founder, Jack L. Wallick, in 1995, Goldston was named chairman and chief executive officer. The Wallick Companies is a diverse housing organization located in Columbus, Ohio Columbus is the capital and the largest city of the American state of Ohio. Named for explorer Christopher Columbus, the city was founded in 1812 at the confluence of the Scioto and Olentangy rivers, and assumed the functions of state capital in 1816. .

GCNKAA's Greatest Show on Earth

The Greater Cincinnati Northern Kentucky Apartment Association (GCNKAA), an NAA affiliate, recently held its annual trade show with more than 1,500 GCNKAA members in attendance.

The theme for 2000, The Greatest Trade Show on Earth, centered around the circus as GCNKAA members got into the spirit by dressing up and decorating booths. The trade show booths sold out by early-December and the demand was so high for more booths, 12 additional booths were added.

The GCNKAA Education Committee also almost doubled its expected income on its four seminars, including a Fair Housing Mock Mediation with HOME; national speaker Rob Foellinger; a maintenance seminar conducted by past NAA President Jerry Molique and GCNKAA's Building Better Communities program.

Ashton Park Chosen Best Garden Community

The Property Management Association of West Michigan, an NAA affiliate, recently held its trade show with the theme, the Wild Wild West.

There were 40 vendors exhibiting their products. In addition, there were 80 attendees for Con-Ed for Real Estate License and other education classes. More than 200 legislators and aids attended the recent Legislative Open in Lansing, Mich.
