Serena Powell, Executive Director of Community Work Services to Speak at New England Women Business Owners December Dinner.


BOSTON, Mass. -- New England New England, name applied to the region comprising six states of the NE United States—Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, and Connecticut. The region is thought to have been so named by Capt.  Women Business Owners Many online and offline organizations have been created to collect information about businesses around the world owned and operated by women. Many other organizations have been created to assist the women that own and operate those businesses.  invites leading nonprofit Executive Director, Serena Powell to speak on Corporate Social Responsibility for December 14th dinner meeting.

In the era of Enron, Tyco and Adelphia business ethics business ethics, the study and evaluation of decision making by businesses according to moral concepts and judgments. Ethical questions range from practical, narrowly defined issues, such as a company's obligation to be honest with its customers, to broader social  seem as rare as corporate social responsibility. Is corporate social responsibility an oxymoron? New England Women Business Owners believe that social responsibility creates great reputations, positive buzz and drives profits. The December 14th dinner titled "Paying it Forward, the Benefits of Social Responsibility" will be held at the Holiday Inn Newton at 6:00pm.

Ms. Powell will be one of three speakers sharing their insights and success stories on corporate and non-profit partnerships that drive the mission and the bottom line. Ms Powell, was recently nominated for Mass Council of Human Services Provider Director of the Year award for 2005. She is recognized for her creative work force training programs including "At Your Service", a unique hospitality training program developed in partnership with over 10 Boston hotels including the Ritz Carlton Boston, The Hilton Back Bay and Nine Zero. Serena is a current member of the Boston Chamber of Commerce's Workforce Development Committee. She is a graduate of UMass Amherst and is a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor with a Master Degree in Rehabilitation Counseling rehabilitation counseling,

Mary Allen Lindeman, Founder of Coffee By Design, will also address the NEWBO NEWBO New England Women Business Owners (Chestnut Hill, MA)  members to demonstrate that profitability and social responsibility are not mutually exclusive.
