Sensicast introduces breakthrough in wireless Sensor Networks with H900 Wireless SensorNet System.

Sensicast Systems has introduced the H900 Wireless SensorNet System, the first commercially available end-to-end, low-power, bi-directional, wireless mesh networking system for commercial sensors and controls.

Aimed at filling the growing need for low cost access to sensor information, the H900 Wireless SensorNet System provides system integrators and OEMs with a ready to deploy solution for a wide range of commercial and industrial sensing and control applications including security, building automation, HVAC (Heating Ventilation Air Conditioning) In the home or small office with a handful of computers, HVAC is more for human comfort than the machines. In large datacenters, a humidity-free room with a steady, cool temperature is essential for the trouble-free , and supply chain data acquisition. According to according to

Based on the Sensimesh distributed mesh network A communications network in which there are at least two pathways to each node. If one of the paths fails, the other is still available.

A "fully meshed" network means that every node has a direct connection to every other node, which is a very elaborate and expensive architecture.
architecture, the H900 Wireless SensorNet System enables inexpensive low power sensor nodes to communicate directly with one another, in either full mesh A network architecture in which each end point is capable of reaching any other end point directly through a point-to-point physical or logical circuit. Contrast with "hub and spoke," which uses a central switching point and half as many direct circuits. , partial mesh, or hub and spoke Any architecture that uses a central connecting point. It is the same as a star topology in a network. A network hub is hardware that functions as a central hub to all nodes. See hub and full mesh.

configurations. Because no expensive and difficult to configure infrastructure is required, developers, integrators and enterprises can deploy multi-hop wireless sensor networks quickly and efficiently. Regardless of the network architecture, the Sensicast system permits bi-directional communication, reliably transmits sensor data to host computers, and permits the incorporation of actuators that respond to real-time sensor data.

"Our company fills a need in the market between chip suppliers who are building low-power radios for wireless sensor networks and system integrators and OEMs who would like to take advantage of this technology without becoming experts in RF design," stated Paul Sereiko, President of Sensicast. "Our mission with the H900 is to supply a complete wireless SensorNet system to the marketplace that could have an immediate impact on the cost to deploy commercial sensing and control systems. We believe that the H900 will have broad impact in applications ranging from energy conversation to homeland security Noun 1. The H900 Wireless SensorNet System includes three basic Node types and the Sensimesh distributed software framework:

Star Nodes are battery operated, can accommodate up to two sensor inputs, as well as serial I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output.

I/O - Input/Output
, support a dry contact output, and communicate bi-directionally with Mesh Nodes and Bridge Nodes. Star Nodes are currently available pre-configured with a Sensirion SHT sht - server-parsed HTML 11 Temp/RH sensor for $349, or in a sensor integration configuration for $ 249.

Mesh Nodes are typically line powered and have 24-hour battery backup See UPS. , and an option for sensor integration. Mesh Nodes automatically form a self-healing mesh network with other Mesh Nodes when power is turned on. Mesh Nodes are currently available for $399.

Bridge Nodes provide the gateway for sensor information to flow from the mesh network to a host PC and clients on the corporate enterprise network, embedded network, or internet. Bridge Nodes are currently offered for simple serial I/O and Ethernet. The Bridge Node has a list price of $499. Lonworks and BacNET bridge nodes are planned for the first half of 2004.%
