Senior Staff Expansion at NCGR.SANTA FE, N.M. -- The National Center for Genome Resources (NCGR) announced today the addition of three senior personnel: Dr. Gregory D. May joins NCGR as leader of the Nutritional Biology Program, with an emphasis on improving nutrition through comparative legume legume (lĕ`gy m, lĭgy genomics. Legumes LegumesA family of plants that bear edible seeds in pods, including beans and peas. Mentioned in: Cholesterol, High legumes (l are a source of dietary protein, oils, antioxidants and allergenic proteins in the human diet. Previously, May was associate scientist and head of the Medicago Genomics Program at the Samuel Roberts Noble Foundation in Ardmore, Okla., for six years, and assistant scientist at the Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research The Boyce Thompson Institute for Plant Research is a renown research and education organization currently located on the campus of Cornell University in Ithaca, New York. A Board of Directors, half appointed by Cornell, governs this independent institution addressing plant research. at Cornell University for four years. May has authored more than 40 publications and 10 patents. He was responsible, in part, for initiating the genome sequencing of Medicago truncatula and the development of several legume functional genomics resources. May holds a Ph.D. in Plant Physiology and Biotechnology from Texas A&M University and a B.S. in Biology from Southeast Missouri State University Missouri State University is a state university located in Springfield, Missouri. It is the state's second largest university in student enrollment, second only to the University of Missouri. From 1972 to 2005, Missouri State was known as Southwest Missouri State University. . Dr. Jim Huntley joins NCGR as a senior research scientist. Huntley develops models to investigate the role of protein dynamics in protein function. In particular, Huntley studies legume allergens and cell cycle proteins that serve as targets for cancer therapy. Previously, Huntley was assistant professor at New Mexico Highlands University New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) is a university located in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Dr. James A. Fries is the president. NMHU is notable for enrolling a majority Hispanic student body. (NMHU) and director of the NMHU Research Infrastructure in Minority Institutions program. Huntley holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry from Arizona State University Arizona State University, at Tempe; coeducational; opened 1886 as a normal school, became 1925 Tempe State Teachers College, renamed 1945 Arizona State College at Tempe. Its present name was adopted in 1958. , an M.S. in Medical Physics and a B.A. in Physics from the University of Colorado University of Colorado may refer to:
Steven Day joins NCGR as director, software engineering. Day will manage NCGR's software development teams and technical project portfolio, including Web-based information resources, such as the Legume Information System (www.comparative-legumes.org), applications for molecular diagnostics and population genetics research and semantic Web technology projects. Day has extensive experience in IT development and implementation for biomedical research. Previously, Day was director of information technology at the Molecular Profiling Institute, Phoenix. Prior to this, he led the software engineering unit within the Translational Genomics Research Institute The Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen and worked for SRA International. Day holds a B.A. in Chemistry and an M.S. in Computer Science from the Johns Hopkins University.
