Sendero to offer portfolio accounting from TPG Software.

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 16, 1996--Through an agreement between Sendero Corporation and TPG Software, Sendero now markets and supports a portfolio accounting system. This PC-based system, The Portfolio Genius, interfaces with financial management software from Sendero, a subsidiary of Fiserv.

Developed by TPG Software, The Portfolio Genius started as an analytic tool for fixed income securities and grew into a full investment accounting system designed for financial institutions. The software handles tens of thousands of complex financial instruments and the regulatory requirements that accompany them. The software addresses FAS 115, FAS 91, and rate shock regulations.

The Portfolio Genius accounts for all fixed income securities including amortization and accrual schedules for MBSs, CMOs and other variable rate and odd coupon paying bonds. It accommodates buy or sell scenarios to evaluate the impact on the portfolio in terms of yield, duration, cash flow, average life and other performance analytics. Simulation of interest rate movements show the effect on portfolio investments to provide investment decision-making guidance.

According to Ursula Felmet, a founder and CEO of TPG Software, the agreement with Sendero increases her company's market penetration. "With Sendero expanding our marketing efforts and client support for the product, our company can concentrate on research and development," Ms. Felmet explained. "The software's open design allows us to rapidly add new functionality. Also, The Portfolio Genius is being adapted to a Windows environment."

"Sendero clients need a premier portfolio accounting program that interfaces with standard data services as well as other analytical programs they are using," stated Elliot Rosen, Sendero president. "The Portfolio Genius can interface with multiple Fiserv and Sendero systems. This is the most flexible product on the market today, which makes it an ideal fit with our suite of decision support systems," Mr. Rosen concluded.

Investment positions from The Portfolio Genius can be passed to the Sendero Data Management System (Sendero DMS) and then to Sendero asset/liability management systems for further analysis. A network version of The Portfolio Genius is available. The product is scaled by number of items processed and number of workstations required.

Data interfaces have been written for popular investment data suppliers, such as ABSG, ASBG/Almont, Bloomberg, GAT, IDC, Merrill Lynch Pricing Service, Muller Data and MuniView.

An export data feature built into The Portfolio Genius makes it easy to interface with popular graphics, spreadsheet, data query and report writing programs. Other features include a clear and concise audit trail, built-in data logic check, extensive on-line help, data dictionary and a bond traders calculator.

TPG Software was formed in 1991 by Ms. Felmet and Slavek Rotkiewicz, an experienced financial software developer, in response to regional broker/dealer needs for a complete fixed income workstation. In 1988 Mr. Rotkiewicz developed a fixed income software product for mortgage-backed securities called "Finsoft." In 1991 he started the development of The Portfolio Genius and perfected the accounting engine for fixed income securities. He then developed interfaces and add-on modules that allow the user to incorporate The Portfolio Genius as part of an enterprise-wide solution.

Established in 1982, Sendero Corporation has grown to be a worldwide provider of systems for asset/liability management and profitability measurement. Consulting on balance sheet management and product implementation services ensure full benefit from Sendero software.

The Sendero Institute offers customized courses in financial management. A quarterly interest rate risk service makes Sendero technology available to a wide spectrum of financial institutions. Headquartered in Scottsdale, Ariz., Sendero Corporation has offices across the U.S. and in London, Singapore and Sydney.

Sendero Corporation is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fiserv, Inc., an independent provider of financial data processing systems and related information management services and products to more than 5,000 banks, credit unions, mortgage firms, and savings institutions worldwide. A publicly held company headquartered in Brookfield, Wis., Fiserv is traded on the NASDAQ over-the-counter market under the symbol FISV.
