Seminar features rubber reinforcement."The latest developments in rubber reinforcement" will be featured during a seminar sponsored by Rubber World, to be held November 1-2 at the Hilton Inn at Quaker Square Quaker Square, located in the heart of downtown Akron, Ohio, is a mall made out of the old Quaker Oats mill, silos and factory which originally operated there. The oat silos have been transformed into hotel rooms. History Quaker Oats built 36 grain silos in 1932. in Akron, OH. Recent developments in filler fill·er 1 n. One that fills, as: a. Something added to augment weight or size or fill space. b. A composition, especially a semisolid that hardens on drying, used to fill pores, cracks, or holes in wood, plaster, technology, from material handling through testing the finished product, will be featured. Industry experts will share new innovations in silica silica or silicon dioxide, chemical compound, SiO2. It is insoluble in water, slightly soluble in alkalies, and soluble in dilute hydrofluoric acid. Pure silica is colorless to white. , carbon black, clays, etc., as well as recycled and crumb rubber Crumb rubber is generally manufactured from automotive and truck scrap tires. During the manufacturing process steel and fluff is removed leaving tire rubber with a granular consistency. . The scope of the seminar segments will cover application in tire treads, sidewalls and industrial products, as well as material handling, mixing, processing, testing, quality control and a finished product perspective. Technical presentations on November 1 will include: "The basics of silica and carbon black," John Byers, consultant; "Carbon black in tire treads, sidewalls and industrial product applications (including behavior, applications, handling and new innovations)," Alan McNish, consultant; "Silica in tire treads, sidewalls and industrial product applications (including behavior, applications, handing and new innovations," Pat DiMauro, Degussa-Huls; "Pneumatic pneumatic /pneu·mat·ic/ (noo-mat´ik) 1. pertaining to air. 2. respiratory. pneu·mat·ic adj. 1. Of or relating to air or other gases. 2. conveying of silica and carbon black," Juerg P. Zuber, Buhler AG; "Mixing silica and carbon black - techniques, efficiencies and compound processing," M.A. Hanna Rubber Compounding; and "The use of clays to provide or enhance reinforcing effects." Technical presentations on November 2 will include: "The use of cryogenic cryogenic /cry·o·gen·ic/ (-jen´ik) producing low temperatures. cry·o·gen·ic adj. 1. Relating to or producing low temperatures. 2. and ambient Surrounding. For example, ambient temperature and humidity are atmospheric conditions that exist at the moment. Registration for this seminar costs $345 before September 15, and $395 thereafter. The registration fee includes seminar attendance for both days, a printed copy of the seminar proceedings, lunch and cocktail reception on November 1, and breakfast on November 2.
