Semi-permanent releases.

A water-based mold release has been developed for bromo and chlorobutyl rubbers. This water-based release agent is said to produce superior release for such products as eye droppers and blood vial stoppers made from bromo and chlorobutyl elastomers. The low surface tension of this product allows for increased rubber flow without producing flow lines or knit lines, while keeping the mold surface cleaner, according to the company. Testing has shown a 15% increase in the number of releases per application of this product. Due to the increased number of releases, consumption rates were lowered, transfer to the molded part was minimized and tool cleanliness was improved, according to the manufacturer. This DiamondKote product line has a minimum shelf life of six months and is available in five gallon pails, 55 gallon drums and totes. (Franklynn Industries)
