The Louisville, Ky.-based private equity firm had earlier this year purchased the SFX Tennis division, which represents tennis star Andy Roddick Andrew Stephen "Andy" Roddick (born August 30, 1982) is an American professional tennis player and a former World No. 1. He is the top-ranked American player and fifth-ranked player in the world as of October 1, 2007. He finished sixth in the 2006 ATP Race. . Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Chief executive officer Michael Rapino said the sales are all in line with a strategy to focus on its core business of live music concerts, venue management and Web site brand development. Los Angeles-based Live Nation has booking rights for 153 venues worldwide and produced nearly 30,000 events last year. The company is a spin off from Clear Channel Communications Not to be confused with clear channel radio stations, which are AM radio stations with certain technical parameters.
