D'Souza composed these essays from a symposium honoring Nochlin's long career as an art historian. Leading art historians and critics whose careers were impacted in one way or another by Nochlin's contributions to the field wrote them. The essays are wide ranging, some dealing with specific artists or schools of art, and others as reminiscences of knowing or working with Nochlin.
