Select Delivers New Dedicated Object Modeling Tool For Forte.

SANTA ANA, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 1995--SELECT Software Tools, a leading vendor of object-oriented analysis and design tools, has announced the launch of SELECT Enterprise for Forte, a new product that will automate the process of migrating information between SELECT's object modeling evironment and the Forte TOOL language.

"In response to customer requests for Forte generation from an object model, Forte and SELECT have combined forces on the development of SELECT Enterprise for Forte," said Julie Bassett, director of marketing of SELECT Software Tools. "It gives large organizations using Forte for building distributed applications, the ability to now use an integrated business and object modeling tool which automatically generates Forte code."

SELECT Enterprise for Forte is a business and object modeling workbench for large organizations planning to implement mission-critical distributed applications using Forte. Forte is an application development environment for building applications which operate in a heterogeneous, multi-platform, multi-database environment using distributed object technology. Both companies share the same development approach, that of controlled, model-driven Rapid Application Development.

SELECT Enterprise provides extensive business modeling using the standard Jacobson Use Case technique and Rumbaugh's OMT, with full support for modeling distributed client/server applications. The ability to separately model Interface Objects, Local Objects, Corporate Objects and Storage Objects and then to generate the Forte TOOL language ensures full integrity between the business object models and the deployed application.

This cooperative development agreement closely follows the announcement of SELECT Enterprise for Visual Basic. SELECT Enterprise features a common modeling front-end, together with back end generators focused on specific environments. SELECT Enterprise is priced at $2,995 and includes the option of a Visual Basic or Forte generator.
