SANTA ANA Santa Ana, city, El Salvador
Santa Ana (sän'tä ä`nä), city (1993 pop. 129,873), W El Salvador. It is the second largest city in the country and the commercial and processing center for a sugarcane, coffee, and cattle region.
, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Oct. 11, 1995--SELECT Software Tools, a leading vendor of object-oriented analysis and design Object-oriented analysis and design (OOAD) is a software engineering approach that models a system as a group of interacting objects. Each object represents some entity of interest in the system being modeled, and is characterised by its class, its state (data elements), and its  tools, has announced the launch of SELECT Enterprise for Forte, a new product that will automate the process of migrating information between SELECT's object modeling evironment and the Forte TOOL language.

"In response to customer requests for Forte generation from an object model, Forte and SELECT have combined forces A military force composed of elements of two or more allied nations. See also force(s).  on the development of SELECT Enterprise for Forte," said Julie Bassett, director of marketing of SELECT Software Tools. "It gives large organizations using Forte for building distributed applications, the ability to now use an integrated business and object modeling tool which automatically generates Forte code."

SELECT Enterprise for Forte is a business and object modeling workbench for large organizations planning to implement mission-critical distributed applications using Forte. Forte is an application development environment for building applications which operate in a heterogeneous, multi-platform, multi-database environment using distributed object Distributed objects are software modules that are designed to work together, but reside either in multiple computers connected via a network or in different processes inside the same computer.  technology. Both companies share the same development approach, that of controlled, model-driven Rapid Application Development.

SELECT Enterprise provides extensive business modeling using the standard Jacobson Use Case technique and Rumbaugh's OMT (Object Modeling Technique) An object-oriented analysis and design method developed by James Rumbaugh. See Rational Rose.

, with full support for modeling distributed client/server applications. The ability to separately model Interface Objects, Local Objects, Corporate Objects and Storage Objects and then to generate the Forte TOOL language ensures full integrity between the business object models and the deployed application.

Stuart Frost, founder and chief executive of SELECT Software Tools, said, "Forte is undoubtedly the leading development environment for distributed applications on mixed client/server platforms. The combination of SELECT Enterprise and Forte provides customers with a 'best of breed' solution extending from business modeling through to distributed objects Software modules that are designed to work together but reside in multiple computer systems in a private network or on the global Internet. A program in one machine sends a message to an object in a remote machine to perform some processing. ."

Paul Butterworth, chief architect of Forte Software, said, "The strength of SELECT Enterprise lies in its architecture, which means that our customers can model distributed applications with confidence before generating Forte code automatically. The further ability to amend the code and see the models automatically updated will also mean a much reduced maintenance burden during the life of the system."

SELECT Enterprise supports all services in the distributed application architecture, separating User Services, Business Services and Data Services. Closely integrated modeling and application environments enable models and code to be kept in step. The generator technology supports a message passing architecture, enabling business services to be independent of user services.

This cooperative development agreement closely follows the announcement of SELECT Enterprise for Visual Basic. SELECT Enterprise features a common modeling front-end, together with back end generators (tool) Back End Generator - (BEG) A code generator developed by H.
