Dolby's content licensing program stipulates that games that display the Dolby logo must contain both real-time surround effects, and linear content encoded with a certified Dolby Surround linear encoder A linear encoder is a sensor, transducer or readhead paired with a scale that encodes position. The sensor reads the scale in order to convert the encoded position into an analog or digital signal, which can then be decoded into position by a digital readout (DRO). . The Sega Dreamcast OS r11 will provide an easy way for developers to fulfill one of the primary requirements for producing a title in Dolby Surround. The Dolby Surround logo speaks to over 100 million customers worldwide who have access to a Surround decoder in their home or on their desk at work.
