Seeing things a different way. (New products: looking for higher-education and technology products and services? Start here).

Do limited space and too much ambient light spoil your presentations? NEC (NEC Corporation, Tokyo, www.nec.com, www.necus.com) An electronics conglomerate known in the U.S. for its monitors. In Japan, it had the lion's share of the PC market until the late 1990s (see PC 98).

NEC was founded in Tokyo in 1899 as Nippon Electric Company, Ltd.
Technologies offers the RT50X, a compact rear-screen projection system to address these problems.

NEC claims the system is the only 50inch, 4:3 display on the market designed for data and video applications. With an 18-inch depth, and weighing only 103 pounds, the RT50X is ideal for wall or ceiling mounting, and can be easily transported by cart.

The RT50X's LCD-based rear-screen projection technology makes it impervious to image burn during the extended display of static images. The suggested retail price is $9,995. For more information, visit www.nectech.com.

RE-450X, available in March, and listing at $2,495. The camera can be connected directly to a multimedia LCD projector to enhance visual imagery and maximize presentation impact and message retention.

The Visualizer RE-450X also allows presenters to temporarily capture an image in memory with the unique Freeze Frame Memory feature, while White Paper Preset enhances projected text pages for improved clarity. Other outstanding features include XGA (EXtended Graphics Array) A screen resolution of 1,024x768 pixels. The term stems from IBM's XGA display standard introduced in 1990, which extended VGA to 132-column text and interlaced 1,024x768x256 resolution. XGA-2 later added non-interlaced 1,024x768x64K.  quality resolution; a 1/3-inch, 850,000pixel progressive scan CCD CCD

Designed with an oversized, unobstructed base, the RE-450X easily handles oversized documents, books, chromes, or three-dimensional objects. A built-in color-corrected lightbox allows the user to present images from OHP OHP Oregon Health Plan
