Seeing Is Understanding as LiveData Brings OR-Dashboard Visualization Solution to HIMSS Interoperability Showcase.

'A Heartfelt Patient' Is Grateful for Information Technology

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- LiveData, Inc. will present a visual case for medical device interoperability at the HIMSS HIMSS Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society 07 Interoperability Showcase, Feb. 25-March 1 in New Orleans New Orleans (ôr`lēənz –lənz, ôrlēnz`), city (2006 pop. 187,525), coextensive with Orleans parish, SE La., between the Mississippi River and Lake Pontchartrain, 107 mi (172 km) by water from the river mouth; founded . LiveData OR-Dashboard will capture data from diverse participating vendors and present it on a large screen display in the showcase, part of the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society Founded in 1961, the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) is a healthcare industry membership organization exclusively focused on providing leadership for the optimal use of medical informatics technology and management systems.  (HIMSS) Conference & Exhibition.

In a hospital setting, and as seen in the HIMSS07 Interoperability Showcase, the LiveData OR-Dashboard captures key information that the entire OR team needs to see about the patient and operation, and presents it on large display on the wall, where it can be consulted throughout the surgical process. In the Interoperability Showcase, more than three dozen technology vendors will demonstrate how their systems work together in mock trauma and cardiac emergencies.

The Interoperability Showcase has proven a popular and compelling aspect of the HIMSS exhibit. LiveData will be participating in the new Patient Care Devices section, in a simulated critical care scenario about a patient who suffers a heart attack. The Showcase follows the patient through the various stages of the incident, examination, surgery, and early stages of recovery.

All were required to demonstrate their support of the Framework at the January IHE Connectathon, a week-long series of technical trials conducted in Chicago. LiveData passed all interoperability tests, drawing information from numerous systems including: Welch Allyn Welch Allyn, Inc. was founded in 1915 and is today a leading manufacturer of innovative medical diagnostic and therapeutic devices, cardiac defibrillators, patient monitoring systems, and miniature precision lamps.  Connex Data Management System; Philips Medical Systems IntelliVue Information Center, and IntelliVue Clinical Information Portfolio; GE Healthcare GE Healthcare is a $18 billion (USD) unit of General Electric (GE). Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. . "And now, the HIMSS07 Interoperability Showcase offers LiveData the opportunity to demonstrate its interoperability commitment to a wider community. We are demonstrating an important step toward the vision of 'pluggable devices'."

LiveData OR-Dashboard serves as the bridge between patient care devices and the IT infrastructure, Robbins said. "We use standard interfaces wherever possible, but more often than not are required to create vendor- and product-specific adapters, to get data to flow across compatibility barriers. Standard interfaces and data definitions will make a world of difference, enabling LiveData to deliver visual applications like OR-Dashboard to thousands of hospitals, rapidly and efficiently."

Underscoring its work in medical device interoperability, LiveData will also participate in the HIMSS exhibit led by the Medical Device Plug-and-Play (MD PnP) Program, affiliated with the Massachusetts General Hospital, CIMIT CIMIT Center for Innovative Minimally Invasive Therapy (Massachusetts General Hospital)

Visible from anywhere in the OR, the LiveData OR-Dashboard enables surgeons, nurses, anesthesiologists and other OR professionals to perform their tasks with the confidence that comes with complete, accurate, and timely information that is available to all. The system works across diverse vendors' information systems, medical devices and patient monitors, gathering, synthesizing and visualizing data in real-time, and enabling staff to take-in the state of the patient and operation at a glance.
