Security platform from Vernier Networks takes "guilty until proven innocent" approach to stop network threats.

Vernier vernier (vûr`nēr), auxiliary scale, either straight or an arc of a circle, designed to slide along a fixed scale. Its unit divisions, usually smaller than those on the fixed scale, permit a far more precise reading.  Networks has announced the industry's first Adaptive Security Platform (ASP) designed to provide enterprises with the most stringent security controls for their network. By treating all devices on the network as though they are "guilty until proven innocent," Vernier's Trusted Network Admission screens all devices for vulnerability and security patches A fix to a program that eliminates a vulnerability exploited by malicious hackers. Vernier's ASP is an integrated security solution that provides five layers of protection from Trusted Network Design, Trusted Network Admission, Trusted Network Defense, Trusted Network Outbreak Management, and Trusted Network Remediation. These layers reduce the possibility of an attack, and if an attack occurs, resolve the attack immediately while adapting policy to prevent future threats to the network. The result is an unprecedented level of network security and an assurance of business continuity.

, we have a legal obligation to ensure that our patients' records are protected from security threats all the time so our security system has to be foolproof," said Eddie Kilgore, information security officer of St. Vincent's Hospital based in Birmingham, Ala. "The ability to ensure that all network users must undergo rigorous qualifications to get on the network and are only permitted when their devices are checked for latest patches or vulnerability levels would be an excellent feature. This would give us additional assurance that our staff and patients are being protected."

These solutions have reduced risks but have still left enterprises exposed to attacks due to lack of integration.
