ISLAMABAD, November 05, 2009 (Frontier Star): UN Humanitarian Coordinator The title of United Nations Humanitarian Coordinator is performed by a senior United Nations official, in those country where there is a humanitarian crisis, or emerging humanitarian needs.  Martin Mogwanja has said safety and security of civilian population during ongoing military operation in South Waziristan South Waziristan (Urdu: جنوبی وزیرستان) is the southern part of Waziristan, a mountainous region of northwest Pakistan, bordering Afghanistan and covering some 11 585 km² (4,473 mi²).  is responsibility of government and security forces adding UN has no access to troubled areas therefore, it is unable to take a close review of the situation. He told confirmation has been made of 22600 families out of 46000 families so far which had been shifted from South Waziristan. However registration process was underway, he pointed out. The particulars were being recorded in six registration centres at Dera Ismail Khan Dera Ismail Khan (dā`rə ĭsmīl` khän), town (1981 pop. 64,358), N central Pakistan, c.1 mi (1.6 km) on the western bank of the Indus River.  and Tank, he added. "We will make appeal to international community to provide more funds to sustain relief activities in 2010", he told. About the latest situation of Malakand and Swat affectees he said 1.6 million out of 2.7 million who had shifted from Swat and Malakand had returned to their homes. Only the food and health facilities were being provided due to security situation.
