Net income increased 103% to $10.2 million, or $0.28 per share, compared to $5.1 million, or $0.14 per share, in the first half of 1996. The average number of common equivalent shares outstanding for the first six months of 1997 and 1996 were 36.6 million and 36.4 million, respectively.
