Secularism hits snag. (News in Brief: Canada).

Toronto--The Toronto Star's front page on December 24, 2002, read: "Merry Christmas." So did the coloured front page drawing in the National Post. The Toronto Sun's Donato cartoon cartoon [Ital., cartone=paper], either of two types of drawings: in the fine arts, a preliminary sketch for a more complete work; in journalism, a humorous or satirical drawing.  on the editorial page had "Happy Holidays and Season's Greetings" crossed out, with a large "Merry Christmas" reaffirmed underneath. Only the Globe and Mail wished its readers "Season's Greetings."

Among the leading promoters of Happy Holidays was the American owned Gap clothing store and the federal government agency, The Mint. The Mint promoted "Twelve Days of Giving" advertisements on television, while the Gap instructed its employees to wish customers "Happy Holidays". But then it repented and returned to the old routine. One wonders how few coins the Mint sold during its "twelve days of giving."

In Hamilton, Mayor Bob Wade exhibited a double standard in supporting the alteration Modification; changing a thing without obliterating it.

An alteration is a variation made in the language or terms of a legal document that affects the rights and obligations of the parties to it.
of a lighted Christmas greeting on the side of the city's escarpment escarpment or scarp, long cliff, bluff, or steep slope, caused usually by geologic faulting (see fault) or by erosion of tilted rock layers. An example of a fault scarp is the north face of the San Jacinto Mts. in California. . Whereas in past years the greeting wished citizens a "Merry Christmas," this year it was changed at his behest be·hest

It was the same Wade who, with open arms and without concern for inclusiveness, welcomed homosexuals to City Hall during last June's "gay pride" festivities fes·tiv·i·ty
