RADICAL RETROPUBIC PROSTATECTOMY Radical retropubic prostatectomy is a surgical procedure in which the prostate gland is removed through an incision in the abdomen. We report on the surgical techniques and safety of radical retropubic prostatectomy (REP) in patients who have had a 3-piece inflatable penile implants. We looked at the retrospective data of 5 patients who have undergone RRP RRP n abbr (= recommended retail price) → PVP m for cancer of the prostate after a prior insertion of a 3-piece inflatable penile implant. We looked at the data involving operating time, blood loss, infection of penile implant, damage to the implant, surgical margins of the prostate, damage to other pelvic structures, length of hospital stay, time interval between insertion of implant and RRP, and technique of placing the reservoir during the implant surgery. Our results demonstrate that surgery can be successfully accomplished without any complication to the implant, compromise of the surgical principles, or injury to other pelvic organs. |
