Section/college funding model under review.

The current funding model for sections and colleges is to be reviewed after the end of this financial year on March 31. The current "core funding model" was introduced on a transitional basis in 2004, with 2005 the first full year of implementation.

College and section forums held in 2002 and 2003 identified the need for financial support for core activities. Subsequently a working party was established which identified eight issues related to section and college funding. These were: how to encourage section membership; how to maintain membership; how to simplify funding issues; confirmation of membership criteria of sections; methods of collection of section fees; electronic access of forms on the NZNO NZNO New Zealand Nurses Organisation  website; credit card access for payment; and the industrial/professional sprit. The working party also offered three options for section/college funding. Option three included funding for core activities, members to self nominate nom·i·nate

to a section/college, NZNO to maintain member data on behalf of sections and colleges, and NZNO to cover the cost for core business, eg executive meetings and communications costs. Sections and colleges can apply for additional costs for specific projects. Activities over and above the core activities are funded by sections and colleges via levies, sponsorship and fundraising

The section and college day in February February: see month.  2004 accepted this option and this was endorsed by the March 2004 board meeting, with a recommendation the option be reviewed after two years of implementation.

The review will be via a survey questionnaire based on the eight issues identified by the working party. It will be carried out between April and July July: see month. , with a feedback report to the college and section day and board of directors' meeting before NZNO's annual conference in September September: see month. .
