Secrets of Your Opt-in List

Emails have pretty much replaced regular mail. This has happened not only because it is cheaper, since you do not need to buy a stamp, but because it's also faster. Emails can be sent in as fast as five seconds, depending on the server, anywhere in the world.

This is no doubt the reason emails are being used to distribute news letters, promotional mails, and other things. How then would you be able to get names & email addresses to send those marketing pieces to your prospects? The answer is: you must have an opt-in list.

An opt-in list is your private directory of names & email address that have subscribed to your specific offering (ie: newsletter, ezine, etc..). Let me point out that I am not endorsing going out and buying names & email addresses of "business opportunity seekers" if you have a business opportunity to promote. Those names typically have been sold to 20 or more people offering business opportunies to the public. It is a waste of money and time. After all, you wouldn't want to promote your business opportunity to people who were looking for for those 5 years ago, would you? The only "perfect" opt-in lists are the ones that are built from the ground up and only includes individuals that are interested in your offer.

Here are tips on how to create a comprehensive opt-in list for target market.

Your website:

If you need to build a website, it's very simple nowadays. A lot of programs are milling about assisting regular computer users in making and maintaining websites in a very simple way. Some website creator are so easy that you only need to cut and paste or use one of the website creators' many templates. There are many web hosting sites are available too. If you have a site of your own, visitors can sign up for you newsletter or ezine via a lead capture page.

Set up a promotion or a freebie:

As we all know, not all the best things in life are free, but you can definitely try to give something out for sure. You see this done all over the web. Free screensavers, free games, free download of programs, free e-book, free secrets of your opt-in lists, etc. And what do they need from you? They just ask for your name and email address. Then you can place a check box on the registration form for sending of email. For sure, you can think of something to give out as well.

Write, write and write some more:

There are many ezines and free article hubs where in writers can submit their articles on various topics. If you had a chance to do so, add a link to your article providing information about what you are trying to promote. Some readers of your article may enjoy your work so much they'd sign up for more information, so don't forget your lead capture page.

Allow them to easily opt-out (if they want):

People who join your opt-in list may, at some time, want to opt-out. People who are wary of joining may not join at all if they see that it would be near impossible to remove their email address from the listing. Show them that it is as easy to opt-out as it is opting in. Ofcourse, all emails sent from your autoresponder system should include an opt-out link so that people can opt-out instantly.

Creating an opt-in list entails a lot of work and/or funds. You should outline how much you are willing spend monthly in creating your opt-in list. Keep in mind that people who opt-in to your list/s are sales prospects. They are interested in a certain product that you may be selling or "free" important information you're offering. Obtaining an optimal opt-in list will undoubtedly boost your sales.

Do it today and don't procrastinate. It works!
