Brig. Gen. John "Tom" Sheridan has been named program executive officer and system program director, Space Radar Program, and will lead this SR program office from the Washington D.C. area. The radar satellite demonstrator to be launched in fiscal 2008 will mature technologies that are necessary for the program. This demonstration will validate SR costs and technology maturity as well as demonstrate the concept of operations A verbal or graphic statement, in broad outline, of a commander's assumptions or intent in regard to an operation or series of operations. Specifically, a modern multifunctional radar will host a range of capabilities including synthetic aperture radar Synthetic aperture radar (SAR) Radar, airborne or satellite-borne, that uses special signal processing to produce high-resolution images of the surface of the Earth (or another object) while traversing a considerable flight path. imagery, high resolution terrain information, advanced geospatial intelligence, and surface moving target indication. The SR program seeks to provide these important capabilities to the nation. |
