Take a moment now to write a single word on a piece of paper, then fold it and put it away. So that you can go back and see where your mind was at before you made this discovery. I promise you are going to be shocked. I am revealing one of the greatest mysteries of nature, hidden in the centuries and lost in the mayhem of the technological age. Write it down now. Write down your word before you go further so that you can see why it has been so hard for you to achieve and sustain those four icons of life. DONE? WRITTEN? OK -- Did you think it is ill health? If we are not healthy then we struggle for happiness and love and to be inspired. Poor health can distract us, rob our concentration, divert our attention, cause us worry, and prevent our full and open hearted participation in every day life. Poor health can also sabotage our sex life, relationship, work and happiness. So many unhappy people are unhealthy. Did their poor health cause their unhappiness or the other way round, unhappiness caused their poor health? But if you think poor health is the real enemy of the four icons of a great life, you are wrong. Did you think the enemy of the four icons is unhappiness? If we are unhappy, we are often driven to unhealthy behavior and that causes us to be out of love and out if inspiration. The Dali Lama, head of the Buddhist religion around the world would imply happiness is at the root of humanity. Unhappy people are infectious, they bring down workplace moral, they sabotage their relationships, their health suffers. Unhappy people attract disasters to themselves. More accidents, mistakes, errors, stumbles, disasters, catastrophes and calamities happen to unhappy people than happy ones. So maybe happiness is at the root core of the four great icons and unhappiness is, the greatest enemy of them. But if you think unhappiness is the major enemy of those four icons, you are wrong. Did you think being unable or out of love is the enemy of the four secrets of great living. Most men would not think this, but many women would. We argue very strongly that, without love, there cannot be health, or happiness, and certainly inspiration has passion and love at it's core. Surely, to be in love is a fundamental necessity and to be our of love (say angry or resentful) is the cause of poor health, unhappiness and un inspired. Is this it? The answer is --- no. This is not the enemy of the four icons of life. Finally, did you think the enemy of the four great aspirations of all life was the lack of inspiration. Lack of inspiration leads to hopelessness, and all suicide, depression, emotional breakdowns and much mischief in life comes from people who are uninspired and therefore lack purpose and motivation. Youth and drugs, and crime and sickness all translate back to lack of purpose, lack of vision, lack of inspiration. So maybe at the heart of life, is a sense of belonging, a reason to live, a mission or purpose. Maybe there can be no health, happiness or love if we feel like we are bored, disinterested, too much time. We know low self worth comes from not doing something worthy of self worth. So, maybe this is the king, inspiration? But alas, once more, I am sad to say, if you thought this was the answer, you are wrong again. So what is the king, the enemy, the devil. What one thing sabotages all the others. What one simple ingredient in the mix of life, sabotages the four great mysteries of human condition? The answer – extracted from the ancient mysteries is over the page The Answer is TIREDNESS. Yes, tiredness. What does tired mean? It means lack of enthusiasm. Lack of energy. Lack of passion. Lack of effort. Lack of willingness. Lack of intention. It means exhaustion. It means depression. It means hopelessness. It means laziness. Tiredness is behind the sabotage of everything. If you are tired, you are out of the game. If you are tired you are incapable of contribution. If you are tired you will mask the symptoms. Masking is, for want of a better word, an attempt to cover tiredness up, to overcome it synthetically, to grab at straws and do things even temporarily that make us feel like we are alive. But it's all for naught. Tiredness reveals we are aging too fast, we have lost the vitality of youth, we are losing the battle, and with that loss goes health, happiness, in love and inspiration. There are many potential sources of tiredness but we can lump them into three generic categories. Mental Tiredness Physical Tiredness Spiritual Tiredness Mental Tiredness: Worry, anxiety, eye strain, lost concentration, and most of all emotion tires you out. Clear thinking actually energizes you. Confused, disorganized, emotional, argumentative, uncertain and confused thinking burns your candle out. That's exhausting. So people who can't control their thinking, their environment or their concentration are tired. Many people come home from work as if they ran two marathons. But really they are just disorganized and rushing about madly, stressed making out they are really important. Truth of the matter is, they are killing themselves, because this is unsustainable and the substitutes that are needed to uphold this level of mental incompetence are toxic. So, mental tiredness leads to exhaustion. The exhaustion feels physical but no physical activity has taken place. Worry, confusion and disorganized work and life practices suck energy but those people don't loose weight. So the energy is not mechanical energy like a marathon runner, quite the opposite. It's adrenal energy. Mental Tiredness affect health because it causes us to reach for substitutes. Those substitutes are short term fixes lasting a matter of hours. They are also filled with other things, which means we get more than just a mask. Mental tiredness affects happiness, leading to anxiety, stress, emotional fatigue, and a vagueness that is destructive. Mental tiredness also affects love life. Tiredness in any form is a repelling force, but mental tiredness makes people lack humor, lack joy, lack spark. They take themselves too seriously and become hyper sensitive. Mental tiredness kills love. And finally, mental tiredness cannot co exist with inspiration. A person who is inspired is in-concentration, focused. The mentally tired person can only force their way through work and life, hard headed, emotional and aggressive. How to reduce mental exhaustion: 1. Learn to concentrate on one thought at a time 2. Become mindful. Means actually setting a pace at which you are productive 3. Be interested in what you are doing. 4. Get adequate sleep of a high quality 5. Reduce emotional reaction – uppers create downers. 6. Stress is a sign of mental incompetence. Reorganize, re – engineer, re design work to manage stress. Never back away from it – reducing load is not the answer. 7. Don't take yourself too seriously 8. Manage the environment you work in. Too much stimulation/lights/music/ talk is not conducive to mind focus 9. Be thankful at all times 10. There are two sides to everything. Know them both. Focus on the positive. Physical Tiredness Physical tiredness is 90% emotional. If you go into a community where there is a huge unemployment rate due to lack of available work opportunities, you will find lazy people. They are tired. When you interview those people, they are tired and don't feel very happy about things. They are often overweight and feeling down. But if you can cheer them up and give them encouragement, then they suddenly have energy. Depressed people lack energy, and often eat. Psychologists diagnose depression. I diagnose laziness, physical tiredness. I think about 1 out of every 100 people with depression are really mentally depressed. The rest are tired. Exhausted. Emotionally, mentally and physically tired. They are often unfit, unhealthy, un – in love and Un inspired, and all that leads to unhappy. Sometimes people say they have a metabolism issue and so they are fat and obese. Really, they are emotionally tired. Mentally exhausted from thinking scattered thoughts and so they end up physically tired. Emotional uppers make us just as tired as emotional downers. This is energy wasted. The highly emotional person can often complain of exhaustion and sleep for long periods. Really, this person is just on the downside of an upper. Both the upper and the downer tired them out. Tiredness is toxic When I used to play football, at the end of a game, with bruises and aches and exhaustion I'd go home and take a long hot bath. That was the remedy. Now, I am told, athletes who play football, go home and put on skin tight lycra suits and sit in ice baths. After 20 minutes they step out of that bath and don't feel aches or pains, or tired. Muscles burn fuel, so when we exercise, we make waste. Tiredness is rarely the lack of available fuel. More it is the accumulation of wastes in the blood, muscle, lymph and digestive tract. So most physical tiredness reveals that your body is like a blocked sewer. Soot from burnt fuel is clogging the out pipe (lymph system), causing a backpressure and blocking incoming fuel. Much physical tiredness comes from over eating. Too much food takes blood from the whole body and centers it in the stomach. You feel tired because the blood is not carrying petrol to your body, it is refining it in the chemical factory. Fasting actually raises energy. The first three days don't feel so – because your body has the habit of calling for fuel the easy way (down the hatch) rather than the harder way, (out of the larder). During biological drain, blood sugars can drop. This in turn creates all manner of side affects. So there is a need to keep the fuel carrying capacity of the blood high and healthy. Sometimes we need to be more aware of our blood sugar than anything else. Low blood sugar, low oxygen, low oxygen low fuel. Physical Tiredness affects health by causing a build up of toxin. It affects happiness because it drains vitality. It affects love life, because sexuality, contribution and romance are energy needing acts. Tiredness is a repelling force, people are repelled from people who feel tired and or who are tiring to be around. And it affects inspiration, a sense of defeat comes. To help prevent physical tiredness, you can. 1. Stretch 2. Drainage (raise the part of the body that hurts until it's above the heart 3. Cold water. Aches at first but the compression drains the muscle of waste 4. Lymph Massage 5. Drinks that alkalize the blood (apple cider vinegar) 6. Arnica 7. Separate emotion from body awareness. 8. Sip water (drinking water floods kidneys and drowns the body causing swelling) 9. Avoid excess of acids like red meat, alcohol, eggplant, raw onion, potatoes. (Note; the physical experience of pain and muscle ache is caused by the accumulation of excess waste products in the muscle and the drainage system surrounding it. Lactic acid accumulates in muscles to make them swell. Swelling of muscle loads nerves. Nerves don't like compression, so they send signals to the brain, and we call this pain) Spiritual Tiredness Lost hope, Lost dreams. Lost love. Lost heart. Lost vision. Lost self respect. Lost ambition. Lost interest. Lost humility. Lost simplicity. Spiritual tiredness explains so much of the root cause of unhappiness, unhealthiness, unlovingness and uninspiredness. Lost innocence. Where there is hope, there is energy. The desperate individual clings to hope and can have the energy to survive through challenge. The independent individual clings to a God or Guru, in order to keep themselves awake, to stop from falling, they are so separate from the world and the only hope of survival is to step outside of reality. Spiritual Tiredness is the most devastating tiredness. Whereas masking of mental and physical tiredness can prevent an individual from confessing their real circumstance, the spiritually tired person has placed all their power in the hands of south sayers, they have given away their preciousness and placed hope in the hands of others. Astrologers, gurus, priests, and rabbi, they nurse the hopes of so many spiritually exhausted people. They do this profound gift, but forget to eventually hand it their power back. Instead, they recruit "members" and "converts" and forget, the magnificent spirit that lives with each of those people. Organized religion and spirituality become the masking for the spiritually tired, their prisons are built from blame and victim hood, and from this self created Guantanimo Bay, there is no escape. Spiritual tiredness turns the dog into a pit bull, a cat to a tiger, a playful elephant into a stampeding killer. Spiritual Tiredness separates us, from us. Spiritual tiredness makes us want to be spiritual. It makes us want to be different, desire that others are different. Spiritual tiredness turns the open hearted individual into a righteous do good. And from that moment, health, happiness, love and inspiration are lost because all of those things come, from the individual who sees the beauty of life, not as it could be, but exactly as it is. How to avoid Spiritual Tiredness 1. Stay humble – 2. Hold your vision sacred 3. Learn the art of letting go 4. Learn to see before you believe 5. Make every moment count 6. Live with spirit now, not when something happens 7. Choose kindness over everything 8. Give more than you get Summary When we have more than 10% body fat, and our body says "I'm tired" remember that you are the master, and your body will do as you ask. You must be a stern loving master otherwise the horses control the carriage. When your mind is scattered, too much on, not enough organization, write it all down, automate, and procrastinate. Work done that exhausts, will always be done twice. Learn to master you mind. Learn to control the space between a thought and your words. Wisdom is never revealed in the spontaneous and emotional splattering of the adrenalin seeking, emotionally driven, mentally tired individual. When loss interrupts your plans. When something you wanted is gone. When some dream is shattered, or a loved on passes. Collect your old self. Revert to simplicity, become the child and the new day will reveal all that you could have ever dreamed. Don't overcome challenge, don't learn from mistakes, celebrate them as the truest measure that you are alive, in spirit, awake and real. Let your failures be the measure of your spirituality, not your successes. Let the unknown be the real testimonial that you are spiritual. When you are in the unknown, smile, because it is here that we can really honestly say, "I am home" With Spirit as always Chris Walker helps people live healthy, happy, inlove and inspired lives. |
