SearchGold Appoints Joel Scodnick to the Board of Directors.

MONTREAL -- SearchGold Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:RSG) is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Joel Scodnick, P. Geo., to the board of directors. Mr. Scodnick, a well renowned figure in the mining industry, will assume the position of President and Chief Executive Officer of the Company in replacement of Mr. Maurice Giroux who will remain with SearchGold as Chairman of the Board and will stay involved in the development of the Company's African diamond and gold assets.

Mr. Scodnick brings over 20 years of experience in mining corporate development, mineral exploration and mining development to the Company. He graduated in 1976 with honors distinction, in electromechanical engineering from Algonquin College in Ottawa and he also completed a B.Sc. Major in Geology in 1982 from Concordia University in Montreal, Canada. He is an active member of the Association of Professional geoscientists of Ontario.

Mr. Scodnick is an accomplished geologist with exploration experience for precious and base metals as well as industrial minerals in North, Central and South America as well as Eastern and Western Europe and Central Asia. Mr. Scodnick also participated in the development of advanced projects through its involvement with underground development and exploration programs at the Lamaque Gold Mine in Val d'Or, Quebec, Canada as well as at the Terneras/Velardena Polymetallic Mine in Durango State, Mexico.

Mr. Sconick's corporate accomplishments include the founding of Minorca Resources Ltd. in 1990 for which he held the position of President until 1994. He then founded Houston Lake Mining Inc. for which he was President and CEO from 1995 until 1997 and, in 1997, formed Inca Mining Corp., now called Graniz Mondal Inc. Between 1998 and 2005, Mr. Scodnick was involved in a number of companies, notably for gold and base metals projects for Aurmin Corporation and advanced gold and base metals projects for Helm Exploration Ltd. He also worked in the ornamental and dimension stone industry.

The appointment of Mr. Scodnick comes at a pivotal time as SearchGold is now strengthening its position in the gold sector through of the implementation of a three-fold strategy :

1. Acquisition of strategic exploration plays and properties

  2. Development of its flagship Bakoudou project in Gabon in
     partnership with Managem, a successful, established African-
     based mining company

  3. Implementation of exploration programs on its Canadian
     properties

Mr. Scodnick will be based in Canada and will oversee the development of SearchGold with an emphasis on acquisitions and financing for the Company. Through his established network of contacts he will also be instrumental in increasing the Company's visibility with financial institutions, particularly in Western Canada.

Following the appointment of Mr. Scodnick, the board of directors of the Company approved today the grant of 1,000,000 stock options at a price of $0.10 to the new Chief Executive Officer.
