Seagate and VolumeShield Announce Strategic Relationship to Secure Data at the Endpoint.

Combined solution pairs Seagate DriveTrust Security Technology with VolumeShield Removable Storage Device Control to Protect Against Data Loss and Leakage

HOUSTON -- VolumeShield, a leading provider of endpoint security solutions, today announced a strategic relationship with Seagate Technology (NYSE:STX), a worldwide leader in storage solutions, to provide a comprehensive security solution that delivers unparalleled protection against data loss and data leakage at the endpoint.

Endpoint data loss and leakage is a serious concern for companies worldwide. According to the 2006 CSI/FBI Computer Crime and Security Survey, two of the top three concerns of IT professionals were data protection and leakage of proprietary information. Data stored on laptop and desktop PCs is especially vulnerable to loss via theft of the system itself, or inappropriate use of removable storage devices.

VolumeShield AntiCopy enhances the security of data on corporate PCs by controlling and auditing access to removable storage such as USB drives. As a result of the partnership with Seagate, VolumeShield's AntiCopy product will be able to store critical security policies and compliance information within secret, highly secure regions of Seagate's DriveTrust hard drives, hardening the controls against tampering.

Seagate DriveTrust technology is a powerful security platform that combines strong, fully automated hardware-based security with a programming foundation that makes it easy for software applications to help lock down digital information at rest. DriveTrust can also automatically encrypt all hard drive data to prevent unauthorized access if the computer is lost or stolen. DriveTrust powers Seagate's Momentus 5400 FDE.2, the world's first 2.5-inch laptop hard drive with built-in encryption, and can be integrated with desktop, enterprise and external hard drives.
