Stan Thomas (born October 28, 1968 in El Centro, California) is a former professional American football player who played offensive tackle in the NFL for 4 seasons for the Chicago Bears and Houston Oilers from 1991 to 1994.

"Stan's way with people, his humor, and keen business sense were qualities he had in abundance," said Gerrard. "What I learned from Stan was how to get the very best from people by understanding what was important to them--and marrying up those interests with those of the corporation."

Today the Short Hills, N.J., resident is the person providing inspiration and direction to young professionals, particularly those of color not of the white race; - commonly meaning, esp. in the United States, of negro blood, pure or mixed.

, just as Thomas did for him. As a mentor, Gerrard is a champion of diversity within the cable industry, sharing insights and carving out unique opportunities tar young executives who demonstrate a desire and passion to excel.

One such individual is Lenore Washington-Graham, a woman with whom he first worked at The Sega channel in the early 1990s. Fast-forward to today: Lenore is the vice president of strategic resourcing at Scripps Networks, where she leads the company's diversity initiatives.

It was a powerful moment for Gerrard, who calls it "one of the highlights of his career." From mentee to mentor, Gerrad has come full circle, and he serves as an shining example of the power of mentoring.
