ScottishPower, which serves over five million homes in the United Kingdom with a variety of services for electricity, natural gas, telecommunications, and water, relies on Unicenter TNG's asset management capabilities as the underpinning of an aggressive program to manage its desktop computing infrastructure. After a pilot project demonstrated the scalability of the Unicenter TNG Asset Management Option to rapidly inventory and manage the many desktops within ScottishPower, the company began an ambitious six-week project to identify enterprise-wide PC resources and build a database housing the hardware and software assets of 6,000 desktops. That project was completed successfully and on time, according to Livingstone, giving ScottishPower - for the first time - an accurate assessment of its IT investments across the enterprise.
