Medtech Insight has announced that Dr. Scott Wolf, partner at Prospect Venture Partners and founder of Percardia, Cardiac Dimensions, Archus Orthopedics and Endogastric Solutions, will give the "State of Medtech Investing - 2006" keynote address at their upcoming "Investment In Innovation (In3) WEST: A Preview of Early-Stage Medical Technology Companies" conference, being held Feb. 23-24, 2006, at the Hyatt Regency Irvine in Irvine, Calif. The event, the company's 20th investment and partnering conference to date, will showcase 50 innovative, emerging startup companies from around the world developing diagnostic and therapeutic products in the hottest medical specialty areas. These companies will present to a focused audience of senior executives representing most of the major investment and medical technology firms, for purposes of funding and/or strategic partnership.

Prior to joining Prospect Venture Partners, Dr. Wolf was a vice president at Frazier Healthcare Ventures, where he was involved in medical device investments across all stages, from seed to commercialization. While at Frazier, he founded and served as CEO and director of Juniper Medical, a device startup developing non-invasive methods of bodysculpting and cellulite therapy. Wolf was also a founding partner of Scout Medical Technologies, a venture capital medical device incubator company. While at Scout, he co-founded three portfolio companies: Cardiac Dimensions, Archus Orthopedics, and Endogastric Solutions. Prior to Scout, Wolf was president of Itasca Ventures, a device incubator funded by Medtronic. At Itasca, he founded Percardia, a device company developing a percutaneous therapy for coronary artery disease, and assisted in Medtronic's spinout of TissueLink Inc. He is also an inventor on numerous issued and pending patents in the medical device field.

In3 WEST will include focused 10-minute presentations by a senior executive from each presenting company, followed immediately by one-on-one meetings with company representatives in private breakout rooms.
