Scitex Announces New High-Performance Digital Camera Back; Leaf Volare Features an Actively Cooled 2Kx3K-pixel CCD and Leaf VHtwist.

SAN FRANCISCO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 1, 1998--Scitex Corporation Ltd. (NASDAQ:SCIXF) today announced the Leaf Volare(tm), a high-quality digital camera back dedicated to professional still-life and studio photography. The newest addition to the Leaf(tm) family, the Leaf Volare is a three-shot camera back capable of capturing precise color information. Featuring newly developed technologies, the Leaf Volare camera back includes an actively cooled 2048x3072-pixel CCD and Leaf VHtwist(tm) (patent pending) for producing non-interpolated, 36-megabyte images of unsurpassed quality. The Leaf Volare digital camera back will also be demonstrated in Europe at Photokina in Cologne, Germany, and at IPEX 98 in Birmingham, UK.

"The Leaf Volare incorporates decades of Scitex expertise in digital preprint, and we're confident that it will become the next de facto standard for high-quality digital photography," said Adina Shorr, General Manager of the Scitex Input Systems Division. "Moreover, the unique synergy between our scanning and digital photography technologies provides the professional photographer with a full image capture solution."

An exclusive feature of the Leaf Volare digital camera back is the Leaf VHtwist, a mechanism that rotates the entire 6-megapixel CCD head for shooting vertical or horizontal images in the ideal orientation. A Leaf CCD Active Cooling system contributes greatly to noise reduction and image quality. In addition, Leaf 14-bit HDR (High Dynamic Range) file format assures that more color information is captured with Leaf digital camera backs than with any other system.

In the design of the Leaf Volare digital camera back, special attention is given to the workflow needs of the professional photographer. Live Video Preview, Leaf LiveFocus and Leaf Digital Layout(tm) (patent pending) streamline all processes from layout to image capture. Incorporating advanced Scitex technology, the award-winning Leaf ColorShop(tm) preprint production package provides a complete solution from image capture all the way to print.
