Scientific Council okays 18 research projects.
The meeting discussed a number of topics, including progress in the implementation of the decisions taken at the previous meeting.
It also reviewed the results on the assessment of research proposals submitted by a number of institutions being linked electronically to the first term of the Open Research Scholarship Programme.
The council has received 39 research proposals on six sectors, which have been revised by the research sectoral committees. These committees are being formed to check up the proposals and put them up for electronic voting that will be sent to the arbitrators.
Having been verified and classified as per the quality of researches, the proposals were submitted to the Open Research Scholarships Committee under the chairmanship of the secretary-general of the National Economy Ministry and the councilEoe1/4aos member for approving required budget for the research scholarships.
The council has also discussed the programmes being implemented within the context of the Seventh Five-Year Development Plan, including research programmes, awareness and information programmes and support of innovation and information infrastructure programmes.
During the meeting, a briefing was also given on raising the awareness and knowledge pursued by the council in coordination with the different media in the Sultanate.
Dr Saif bin Abdullah Al Hadabi, assistant secretary-general for researches and scientific programmes at the council, stated that the council had agreed to finance 18 scientific research projects that cost over RO2,500,000, distributed among six research sectors namely energy, industry, environment, biological resources, culture and basic sciences, education, human resources, health, service of society, communications and information technology.
