Paul S. Koch, MD serves as Medical Director of Koch Eye Associates and is also the Chief Medical Editor of Ophthalmology Management. Dr. Koch received his MD from Tufts University School of Medicine. He completed an internship at the Rhode Island Hospital of Providence and completed his residency as Chief Resident at the Manhattan Eye Ear and Throat Hospital. Dr. Koch was one of the first refractive surgeons in America performing keratomileusis in 1979, keratophakia in 1980, and radial keratotomy in 1983. He has helped popularize many advances in cataract surgery and has won many awards including the American Academy of Ophthalmology's Honor Award. Dr. Koch has written many textbooks on eye surgery, which are the standard reading materials for residency programs in the U.S. and abroad, and has authored many journal articles, book chapters, and specialty editorials. Dr. Koch has been named one of the Top 100 Ophthalmologists and one of the Top 15 Cataract Surgeons in North America by Ophthalmology Times and he has been cited in each issue of the Best Doctors in America.

Robert S. Lewis, MD has been in private practice for over twenty-seven years, and is the Senior Partner at Ophthalmic Surgeons and Physicians of Tempe, Arizona. Dr. Lewis graduated cum laude from Lebanon Valley College in Pennsylvania and received his medical degree from Hahnemann University in Philadelphia. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Texas at San Antonio. After serving as a medical officer with the US Air force, Dr. Lewis joined a group practice in Mesa, Arizona, where he also consulted in Ophthalmology for Williams US Air Force Base Hospital. He has authored numerous papers, and is a regular guest speaker on a Phoenix radio program. Dr. Lewis has served as Vice Chair and Chairman of the Department of Ophthalmology in Desert Samaritan Hospital. He has lectured at the University of Arizona Medical School, and continues to teach post-graduate courses.

Stuart P. Richer, OD, PhD is an associate professor of Family and Preventive Medicine at Chicago Medical School and associate professor of Optometry at the Illinois College of Optometry. He has been Chief of Optometry at DVA Medical Center, North Chicago, IL since 1983. Dr. Richer received his OD and MS in physiological optics from UC Berkeley. He completed his residency at the DVA Medical Center, Kansas City. Dr. Richer received his PhD in human physiology and biophysics from Chicago Medical School, where he was the Senior Fellow for the Center for Aging & Applied Gerontology. He is actively involved in both primary care optometry and antioxidant research with a special interest in the role of nutrients in treating atrophic AMD. He was an examiner for the National Board of Optometry from 1992-1993 and 1995-1998. Dr. Richer is a reviewer for Archives of Ophthalmology, Journal of the American Optometric Association, and Ocular Toxicology and won the American Optometric Association Journal's Editor's Eagle Award in 1996. He is the author of over 40 articles in peer-review journals and has been the principle investigator in various clinical trials, including the LAST study, which found enhancement of macular function with lutein intake.

John D. Sheppard, MD, MMSc is on the Ophthalmology, Microbiology, and Immunology faculty of Eastern Virginia Medical School, where he serves as Ophthalmology Program Director. Dr. Sheppard is also a Partner of Virginia Eye Consultants. He served as an Associate Examiner for the American Board of Ophthalmology and is now a Mentor Examiner. Dr. Sheppard received his Masters degree in Medical Science and his MD from Brown University on a full Armed Forces Health Professions Scholarship. After an internship in pediatrics at the University of Virginia, he spent four years with the U.S. Navy as 6th Fleet Medical Officer and Chief of Family Practice. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at the University of Pittsburgh Eye and Ear Institute and a three-year fellowship at the Proctor Research Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Sheppard has participated as principal investigator in numerous clinical research trials for major pharmaceutical companies and the FDC.
