Science Applications International Corp., San Diego San Diego (săn dēā`gō), city (1990 pop. 1,110,549), seat of San Diego co., S Calif., on San Diego Bay; inc. 1850. San Diego includes the unincorporated communities of La Jolla and Spring Valley. Coronado is across the bay. , Calif., is being awarded a not-to-exceed $46,022,062 cost-plus-fixed-fee, indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity contract for the development, demonstration and technology transition of a miniaturized communications terminal Terminus of a communications circuit at which data can be either entered or received; located with the originator or ultimate addressee. Also called CT.  and several phased array antennas compatible with the Navy's Cooperative Engagement Capability System. Work will be performed in Kauai, Hawaii (70%), and Arlington, Va. (30%), and is expected to be completed by September 2004. Contract funds in the amount of $300,000 will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured under the Sensor Integration and Communication Technologies broad agency announcement. There were 23 proposals solicited, and 32 offers were received. The Naval Air Systems Command The Naval Air Systems Command, or NAVAIR, is the part of the United States Navy which provides materiel support for naval aircraft and airborne weapon systems, such as guided missiles. NAVAIR was established in 1966 as the successor to the Navy's Bureau of Naval Weapons (BuWeps). , Naval Air Warfare Center The Naval Air Warfare Center was a former U.S. Navy military installation located in Warminster, Pennsylvania and Ivyland, Pennsylvania.

The U.S. Navy purchased the grounds to establish this facility from the Brewster Aeronautical Corporation following its bankruptcy in the
 Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Md., is the contracting activity (N00421-01-D-3016).[sections]
