The term is more widely used in Europe. .

With the Sequence Analysis Collection, it is now possible to analyze, annotate annotate - annotation , and compare biological sequences in an environment where modular tools can be linked together effortlessly to create practical bioinformatics routines. SciTegic's pipelining platform has been well validated in other informatics disciplines, and has been deployed in cheminformatics for five years.

"This newest collection is only the first step towards supporting the expanding role of bioinformatics in the drug target validation process," said Mathew Hahn, Ph.D., vice president & general manager of SciTegic. "We have been very successful in helping our chemistry clients address real-world informatics challenges, and we will provide the same level of commitment to ensure the success of our customers in other life science domains."

While over fifty bioinformatics tools have been incorporated into the collection, the unique strength of the system is how easily customers can integrate additional in-house algorithms and third party software tools. For example, it is now possible to combine GCG GCG Genetics Computer Group

"Pipeline Pilot software has enhanced our ability to integrate data from a variety of internal sources and has supported the automation of our processes, without the need to build custom software," said Michael R. Pear, Ph.D., director of Research Informatics at Isis Pharmaceuticals. "The new Sequence Analysis Collection allowed us to quickly apply Pipeline Pilot to our sequence-centric problems. The capabilities in Pipeline Pilot for integration, property calculation, and data flow have proven useful in cheminformatics and are now applicable to our bioinformatics processes."
