School reading scheme cash boost.
The Warwickshire Education Business Partnership has received a sponsorship deal of pounds 15,000, spread over the next three years.
The cash will support the further development of the Reading Volunteers Programme.
John Botten, EBP manager, said: "Our challenge is now to find more firms who are willing to allow staff to spend an hour out of work a week helping primary children to improve their basic skills.
"We are also in the initial stages of developing a pilot programme related to maths support, and would like to hear from companies who would like to do a similar deal to that programme.''
The scheme works with schools, colleges, universities, and businesses to help prepare youngsters for working life.
It helps schools in the improvement of standards of performance in basic and key skills.
