School becomes symbol of hope (Pelican Falls First Nations High School in Sioux Falls, Ontario).


Elder Henry Ogemah, a former student at Pelican Falls Residential School in Sioux Lookout, Ont., cut the ribbon last fall opening a new high school on the site -- a symbol of hope for native communities scarred by boarding school experiences.

Archbishop Morgan represented the primate, Archbishop Michael Peers The Most Reverend Michael Geoffrey Peers (born 1934) was Primate of the Anglican Church of Canada from 1986 till 2004.

Born in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1934, Archbishop Peers completed an undergraduate degree in languages at the University of British Columbia in 1956
, and said he walked on the site of the old school while he was in the area. "I found myself profoundly moved," he said in an interview.
