Schlitz Malt Liquor enters draft market.

The Stroh Brewery Co. took another step into the packaged draft beer category with a brand "that offers a full-bodied malt liquor taste with the crisp freshness of a cold-filtered beer," the company reported.

Schlitz Malt Liquor Genuine Draft, "The draft that's more than a beer," will be made available the week of April 15 in North and South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, the District of Columbia and parts of Maryland.

According to Victor Dzenowagis, Stroh brand director of new products, Schlitz Malt Liquor developed a packaged draft product in response to the high level of consumer interest in packaged draft beers.

"We feel that consumers will really enjoy out newest offering which combines the traditional character of malt liquor with fresh genuine draft taste," said Edward Boyd, Schlitz Malt Liquor brand manager. "Those who have enjoyed the original |Bull' in the past will want to try this new extension, and draft beer fans who enjoy a fuller-tasting malt beverage will also enjoy it."
