Schiffrin Craig & Barroway, LLP Files Class Action Lawsuit Against Green Tree Financial Corp. and Certain Officers and Directors.BALA CYNWYD, Pa.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 6, 1998--Notice is hereby given that on Jan. 5, 1998, a class action lawsuit was filed in the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota on behalf of all persons who purchased the common stock of Green Tree Financial Corp. ("Green Tree" or the "Company"), in the open market between Jan. 27, 1997 and Nov. 13, 1997, inclusive (the "Class Period"). The complaint charges Green Tree (NYSE: GNT) and certain officers and directors of the Company during the relevant time period with violations of Sections 10(b) and 20(a) of the Exchange Act of 1934. The complaint alleges that defendants materially overstated the Company's revenues and profits by employing gain-on-sale accounting which utilized certain assumptions known by defendants to be inaccurate and unreliable. As a result of Green Tree's dissemination of materially false and misleading financial statements and press releases, the price of Green Tree common stock was artificially inflated at all times during the Class Period. Plaintiff seeks to recover damages on behalf of class members and is represented by the law firms of Schiffrin Craig & Barroway, LLP and Heins, Mills & Olson, PLC who have significant experience and expertise prosecuting class actions on behalf of investors and shareholders. If you are a member of the class described above, you may, not later than 60 days from Dec. 2, 1997, move the Court to serve as lead plaintiff of the class, if you so choose.
