approval usually earns a nice pop higher for a stock. So, what happened to Teva Pharmaceutical Industries (NASDAQ:TEVA)? The shares were stopped sharply by resistance at their declining 10-day moving average and have proceeded to roll over as they struggle to hang onto a one-percent gain. The stock has not logged a daily close above this trendline since the equity gapped lower on May 10. The security has also been in decline mode since mid-December. Expectations are rather high for the shares. The stock's Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio sits in the third percentile percentile,

. With the security failing to bank any serious gains on a positive FDA announcement, I'd say the downside risk for TEVA is pretty good.

H.J. Heinz: H.J. Heinz (NYSE:HNZ) is slowly sneaking onto the radars of traders after a lengthy sideways trend. The stock has tagged a new annual high today, helped by news from a Cayman Islands Cayman Islands (kā`mən), British dependency (2005 est. pop. 44,300), 100 sq mi (259 sq km), comprising three islands in the West Indies.  hedge fund hedge fund, in finance, a highly speculative, largely unregulated investment device. Originating in the 1950s, the funds "hedge" by offsetting "short" positions (borrowing a security and then selling it at a higher price before repaying the lender) against "long"  that the company has a new "action plan." However, the shares have been on the rise during the past several months and are currently up more than 27 percent on a year-to-date basis. The security is also poised to break above resistance at the 33 level, which has capped the stock on a monthly closing basis since November 1999. With short interest for HNZ sitting at a multi-year high, the equity has the potential to climb even higher. As the stock continues to gain ground, these bears could be squeezed out of their short positions.

Bankrate and Pacific Ethanol: Bankrate (NASDAQ:RATE) and Pacific Ethanol (NASDAQ:PEIX) caught my attention today as both securities are bouncing off support at their ascending 80-day moving averages. These rallies could gain momentum as more technical players jump on their stocks.
