, a nickel ahead of analyst estimates. Company revenues increased 7.1-percent year-over-year to $22.9 billion, ahead of the consensus estimate of $22.8 billion. HPQ also issued upside earnings guidance for both the first quarter and for fiscal 2006.

I wrote about HPQ in the Daily Market Blog this past Monday. I discussed the downgrade by Sanford Berstein and concluded that HPQ looked like an attractive contrarian play based on its strong Schaeffer's Equity Scorecard rating. The positive earnings news has helped HPQ push higher this morning. Market players should keep a close eye on the stock to see if it is able to hold above resistance at the 29 level.

10:50 AM Cisco Systems: A Perfect "Zero"

Shares of Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO) are on the move this morning, as the company agreed to acquire Scientific-Atlanta (SFA See sales force automation.

) for $6.9 billion, or $43 per share. A look at CSCO from our Expectational Analysis(R) perspective reveals a bleak outlook for the shares. Technically speaking, shares of CSCO have been trending lower since mid-January 2004. The stock has shed more than 11 percent over the past 52 weeks.

Despite this lackluster performance, investors view CSCO in a positive light. Option players are particularly hopeful, as the current Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio (SOIR SOIR Schaeffer's Put/Call Open Interest Ratio

In the Daily Market Blog at SchaeffersResearch.com we list more than 40 stock picks today that are achieving new annual highs or new annual lows while sporting an "extreme" Schaeffer's Equity Scorecard reading. For a bullish pick, you could do worse than look at aQuantive (NASDAQ:AQNT) or Moody's (NYSE:MCO), both of which have a scorecard reading of 9.0 out of 10. Sharper Image (NASDAQ:SHRP) presents opportunities for the bears, sporting a scorecard reading of just 1.0 out of 10.
