12:06 PM Housing Down Big Again

Not much happening today, as everyone appears to be content to wait on the Fed Minutes release at 2:00 p.m. Eastern time. Right now, housing is giving back much of yesterday's gains, with the ISE Ise (ē`sā), city (1990 pop. 104,164), Mie prefecture, S Honshu, Japan, on Ise Bay. It is one of the foremost religious centers of Shinto, the site of the shrines of Ise.  Homebuilders Index (RUF) down 2.77 percent. I continue to think this sector is going much lower and the charts show no signs of bottoming. Turning to a few names, Beazer Homes USA (NYSE:BZH) is down 4.21 percent, D.R. Horton (NYSE:DHI) is down 3.07 percent, and K.B. Home (NYSE:KBH) is down 2.88 percent.

12:53 PM Bernanke, the Markets, Winners and Losers

Bernanke's been giving the markets a lot to ponder and, for the most part, they don't seem very certain about which direction they want to go. The tech-heavy Nasdaq has been hit for about one percent thus far today, but most of the other broader market averages are only very slightly in negative territory. Tobacco is one sector that has been on fire today. Reynolds American (NYSE:RAI) is currently benefiting from the bull market in tobacco and is up about three percent. The shares are up nearly 50 percent over the past year. On the other hand, oil service stocks are extremely weak today. The Oil Service HOLDRS Trust (OIH) ETF ETF

2:48 PM Freescale Has a Power Surge

Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE:FSL) is due to report second-quarter earnings after the close this afternoon. The company was originally spun off from Motorola (MOT), which reported strong second-quarter results late yesterday.  on $1.55 billion in sales.

The stock has pulled its 10-week and 20-week trendlines to the brink of a bearish cross but its overall uptrend persists. I see that FSL's 10-month moving average has stepped in to offer support last month and this month.

I notice that the stock's Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio (SOIR SOIR Schaeffer's Put/Call Open Interest Ratio

) is at an annual high. This kind of sentiment in the options pits suggests that money is waiting on the sidelines On the sidelines
