DaimlerChrysler: DaimlerChrysler (NYSE:DCX) has retreated nearly seven percent today after lowering its profit forecast for 2006 to around $6.4 billion. Officials at the automaker are chalking up this disappointment to wider-than-expected losses at the Chrysler Group unit in the third-quarter period. Despite today's pullback, DCX shares are still holding above double-barreled, intermediate-term support. The equity is atop the 48 area, which previously served as resistance throughout 2004 and into early 2005, but has since reversed roles to act as support. What's more, the equity's 40-month moving average has advanced into this region, fortifying the bulwark of support. Micron Technology: Micron Technology (NYSE:MU) shareholders got some good news today, as Toshiba said it will drop its lawsuit pending against the company. MU shares have been in rally mode since late July, gaining nearly 30 percent in less than six weeks. This month, MU has overcome technical resistance in the 17 area, which contained prior rally attempts in the shares in May and August. The 17 level is now also important from an options-related perspective. In the October series, which becomes our front month after tonight's close, the 17 put is the site of heaviest open interest, home to more than 22,000 open contracts. MU bulls could be banking on this structural support to keep the shares afloat during the short term.
