dropped its rating on the aerospace concern to "reduce" from "neutral" and reduced its price target. From a technical perspective, BA appears to be breaking down, especially from a long-term perspective. Last month, the shares closed below their 10-month moving average for the first time since April 2003, and they are showing no signs of recovery. What's more, the stock continues to wrestle with resistance from its 10-week moving average, although it did managed to edge above its 20-day trendline yesterday for the first time since late July. Meanwhile, short sellers have sprinted for the exits, evidenced by the 24-percent drop in shorted BA shares last month. This leaves just 0.72 percent of the stock's float sold short and virtually eliminates the hope of short-covering support.

General Electric: The newswires are sprinkled with information about General Electric (NYSE:GE) today. The conglomerate is selling its GE Advanced Materials Advanced Materials is a leading peer-reviewed materials science journal published every two weeks. This level acted as support throughout the first half 2005 but reversed roles last summer and has provided sporadic resistance overhead. In fact, since early January, GE has managed just one weekly close above this threshold. The 35 strike is significant from an options-related perspective as well. The soon-to-expire September 35 call is home to about 111,000 open positions, and the October 35 call has 30,000 contracts already in residence, making it the site of heaviest open interest in this series.

Microsoft: Music enthusiasts have a close eye on Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT) today, as the software giant is planning to unveil its Zune media player and accompanying software, which are respectively designed to compete with Apple Computer's iPod and iTunes. As if this weren't exciting enough, MSFT also boosted its quarterly dividend payout by a penny per share to 10 cents. MSFT shares have been gaining some altitude during the past three months and are attempting to fill the void left by the stock's late-April bear gap. So far, the shares have recovered more than half of this gap region. MSFT is now wedged wedged - 1. To be stuck, incapable of proceeding without help. This is different from having crashed. XM Satellite Radio: XM Satellite Radio (NASDAQ:XMSR) is among the top-performing names on the Nasdaq today. The stock has rallied more than 11 percent after Credit Suisse The Credit Suisse Group (SWX:CSGN, NYSE: CS) is a financial services company, headquartered in Zürich, Switzerland. It is the second-largest Swiss bank, behind UBS AG.  lifted its rating to "outperform" from "neutral," citing valuation. XMSR has subsequently nosed above its 20-week moving average, which has not been breached to the upside since early October of last year. A weekly finish above this trendline could prove significant for the shares. Should it continue to build on today's upside, XMSR could benefit from short-covering activity. Currently, more than 12 percent of the equity's float has been sold short, providing a decent foundation of short-covering support.
