With slightly less than an hour to go in this Wednesday session on the Street, the SPX stands alone as the sole index in the green. At last check, the SPX was up a mere 0.81 points, compared to a loss of 4.1 points on the Dow and a 0.1-point loss on the Nasdaq Composite. After tagging new all-time highs in yesterday's session, crude has pulled back below the $59 level in today's trading as crude supplies declined by a slimmer degree than expected. Checking in on the SPX's components, we find the 500 members in near parity, with 47 percent of the broad-market indicator's members managing to move higher on the day.

Jabil Circuit (NYSE:JBL) is leading today's advancers, after the company reported a 48-percent rise in its third quarter earnings. According to the company, net earnings rose to $59.4 million, or 29 cents per share, from $40.1 million, or 19 cents per share, last year. Revenue jumped 19 percent to $1.94 billion over last year's $1.63 billion. Excluding one-time items, JBL reported a profit of $68.9 million, or 33 cents per share, matching the consensus estimate. At last check, JBL was up more than 10 percent with less than 90 minutes left in the trading session.

Sporting footwear and apparel specialist Reebok International (NYSE:RBK) sprinted more than four percent higher today, following an "overweight" initiation at Morgan Stanley. The brokerage noted that RBK's use of musicians to endorse its shoes is making headway in the youth-oriented specialty retail market. In reaction to the news, RBK has soared above former resistance at the 43 level and reclaimed its 20-week moving average for the first time since early April.

E*TRADE Financial (NYSE:ET) is rallying the troops today, despite being passed over by Ameritrade Holding (AMTD) last night. AMTD said that it has agreed to merge with TD Waterhouse (TD) instead of ET because ET wanted to control the combined company. Apparently investors aren't taking the loss too hard, as the stock was last up more than eight percent in late-session trading.

Ford Motor (F) is having quite an impact on auto-parts makers today, as both Visteon (NYSE:VC) and Delphi (DPH) have slunk lower on the news. Late last night, F lowered its full-year earnings outlook, citing continued weakness at its North American operations. The company also announced plans to reduce its management staff by an additional five percent. F now expects to earn $1-$1.25 per share, 25 cents lower than its previous forecast. The Detroit-based automaker also said that it didn't expect to reach its goal of $7 billion in pretax profits by 2006. DPH has given back more than three percent on the news, pulling back to support at its 10-day moving average.

In VC's case, the stock is receiving additional pressure from Standard & Poor's (S&P). The ratings services company stated that its "B-" corporate credit rating on the company was still under ratings watch. The rating will be raised to "B+" following the pending completion of various agreements with F. VC was last seen down more than four percent, as the stock dipped below short-term support in the 6.50 area.

The rise of grocery-store competitor Kroger (KR) has apparently added some downward pressure on Albertson's (NYSE:ABS) in today's session. You'll remember that yesterday, KR reported first-quarter earnings of 40 cents per share, a nickel better than last year's results and six cents better than the consensus estimate. Today, ABS has slipped more than three percent lower, as it threatens to break below its 20-week moving average.
