10:09 AM Bed Bath & Beyond Lower on In-Line Earnings Report

, in line with analyst expectations. Company revenues increased 11 percent year-over-year to $1.45 billion, slightly lighter than the consensus estimate of $1.47 billion. This earnings report is only the second time in eight quarters that BBBY failed to muster a positive earnings surprise.

BBBY has been hit sharply on the in-line earnings report. At last check, shares of BBBY were trading nearly 12 percent lower to $36.35. A check on its weekly price chart reveals that the stock is now trading near an area of support around the 36.50 level. Market players should keep a close watch on the security to see if it is able to hold support at this level.

11:55 AM Red Hat Tops Earnings Estimates

Last night after the market close, Red Hat (NASDAQ:RHAT) reported third-quarter earnings of 12 cents per share, three cents ahead of analyst estimates. Company gross margins also came in slightly ahead of Wall Street's expectations, as RHAT reported gross margins of 84 percent versus the consensus estimate of 83.5 percent.

Puts traded actively on RHAT ahead of its quarterly earnings report. Yesterday's put volume was 3.8 times heavier than average, as more than 6,900 contracts crossed the tape. The most actively traded put was the January 25.00 strike (RCV RCV Receive

 lowered the corporate family and senior unsecured ratings of automobile supplier Dana Corp. (NYSE:DCN) To B1 from Ba2 and took Dana Credit Corp.'s senior unsecured ratings to B1 from Ba2. Moody's attributed the downgrade to continued challenges for the auto industry going into 2006 and the real possibility of lowering future earnings guidance. Going into 2006, the auto industry and its suppliers will continue to see pressure from higher material and labor costs.
