10:51 AM Nordson Makes an All-Time High

I wrote about Nordson (NASDAQ:NDSN) recently in the Schaeffer's Timely Takes market observation section of our website. In that observation, I noted NDSN's fundamental and technical strength amid negative sentiment. I also said "The stock is also challenging resistance at its 2004 all-time high of 44. If NDSN were to surpass 44, we would then expect this level to serve as support for a continued rally." Well today the stock is up more than five percent and is trading at a new all-time high of 46.00. Two weeks ago I said that the stock should be on your bullish watch list. If it holds support at 44, it could be a strong stock for 2006.

11:28 AM Cooper Companies Guides Higher

This morning before the market open, Cooper Companies (NYSE:COO) lifted its earnings outlook for 2006. The company now sees earnings of $3.34 to $3.44 per share, versus the consensus estimate of $3.31 per share. COO also sees revenues coming in higher than previously expected, as the company sees revenues of $933 to $946 million, versus the consensus estimate of $919.6 million. This upward earnings revision has sent shares of COO nearly two percent higher to $54.27 in today's trading activity.

Technically speaking, COO is now trading above its short-term moving averages. The stock also recently enjoyed a bullish cross over of its fast 10-day moving average above its 20-day moving average.

This morning, FOXH updated its earnings outlook. The company sees fourth-quarter earnings coming in within or at the upper end of its previously expected range. FOXH sees fourth-quarter revenues coming in at $41.7 to $41.9 million, at the upper end of its prior estimates. At last check, FOXH was trading 82 cents higher to $35.01 today.

12:37 PM Juniper Networks Fails to Get a Lift from the Market

When the market is strong like it has been over the past week or so, I like to look at stocks that aren't participating in the rally. The old saying goes, "a rising tide lifts all boats The aphorism "a rising tide lifts all boats" is associated with the idea that improvements in the general economy will benefit all participants in that economy, and that economic policy, particularly government economic policy, should therefore focus on the general macroeconomic ." My belief is that if there are boats out that are not being lifted, those names could be potential bearish Bearish

However, since the beginning of the year JNPR had already lagged the market, losing more than one percent. By comparison, the S&P 500 Index (SPX (Sequenced Packet EXchange) The transport layer protocol in the NetWare operating system. Even amid the technical weakness, optimism reigns. Both JNPR's Schaeffer's put/call open interest ratio (SOIR SOIR Schaeffer's Put/Call Open Interest Ratio

1:21 PM Best Performing Stock of 2005

Reflecting on stocks in 2005, NutriSystem (NASDAQ:NTRI) is one stock that doesn't get the notoriety that it deserves. The direct marketer of prepackaged pre·pack·age
