10:32 AM Conn's Higher on Positive Earnings Surprise

According to Yahoo! Finance, Conn's (NASDAQ:CONN) operates as a specialty retailer of home appliances and consumer electronics in the United States. The company sells consumer electronics and appliances, including refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers, ranges, dishwashers, air conditioners, and vacuum cleaners.

This morning before the market open, CONN reported third-quarter earnings of 38 cents per share Cents per share

, topping analyst estimates by four cents. Company revenues increased 30.4-percent year-over-year to $173 million, slightly lighter than the consensus estimate of $176 million. CONN also raised its earnings outlook for 2006 and now sees earnings per share of $1.60-1.65, versus its previous estimates of $1.50-1.55 and the consensus estimate of $1.57. This positive news has sent shares nearly five percent higher to $35.86 in today's trading activity.

10:45 AM Same-Store Sales Report Sends Charming Shoppes Higher

Specialty apparel retailer Charming Shoppes (NASDAQ:CHRS) is trading seven percent higher this morning on better-than-expected same-store sales. CHRS reported November same-store sales increased 9.0 percent, topping the First Call estimate of 3.4 percent.

In addition to this encouraging fundamental data, the equity's sentiment backdrop also looks attractive. CHRS has largely been ignored by both the financial analyst community and the options crowd. Short sellers have made decent bets against it, as CHRS sports a short-interest ratio short-interest ratio

12:36 PM Ford's Vehicle Sales Drop, Cut Fourth-Quarter Output

Roughly 20 minutes ago, Ford Motor (NYSE:F) posted a 15-percent decline in November U.S. sales to 201,711 vehicles. The company's car sales dropped seven percent, while the largest decline was seen in truck sales, which dropped 18 percent. These numbers were not adjusted to reflect an extra selling day during the month. F's sport-utility vehicle (SUV) sales continued to drop, led by the Explorer and its 52-percent drop and the Expedition and its 43-percent sales slide. The automaker announced that it plans to build 790,000 vehicles in the fourth quarter, which is 20,000 units lower from F's previously announced target.

DaimlerChrysler (DCX DCX DaimlerChrysler Ag (stock symbol)

) also announced that sales dropped during the month. DCX saw sales decrease three percent, to 178,182 vehicles, when compared to last year. Adjusted for an extra selling day, DCX's Chrysler side saw a decline of seven percent, while its luxury Mercedes-Benz unit saw a three-percent slide.

On an intraday basis, DCX has been able to advance more than one percent. F finds itself exactly where it started. General Motors (GM) is also scheduled to release its auto sales numbers this afternoon.
