Finance, STAAR Surgical (NASDAQ:STAA) engages in the development, manufacture, and distribution of medical devices for use in cataract, refractive, and glaucoma surgeries. This morning before the market open STAA announced it had won approval from the Food and Drug Administration for the use of its Myopic Visian ICL in the correction of nearsightedness nearsightedness or myopia, defect of vision in which far objects appear blurred but near objects are seen clearly. Because the eyeball is too long or the refractive power of the eye's lens is too strong, the image is focused in front of the in adults. STAA's new product is an implantable collamer lens. This positive news has sent the stock sharply higher. At last check, shares of STAA were trading 32 percent higher to $7.64. 2:12 PM Big Reversal in Energy Pretty much what you'd expect today, as nothing major is happening. In fact, all three major indexes are a few points from break-even, and it feels like they've been there most of the day. Oh yeah, volume is going to be at its lightest day since the Friday after Thanksgiving. One major takeaway from today is the nice reversal put on by energy stocks.
