Byline: Karen McCowan The Register-Guard

JUNCTION CITY Junction City, city (1990 pop. 20,604), seat of Geary co., NE Kans., at the confluence of the Republican and Smoky Hill rivers; inc. 1859. The rail, trade, and processing center of an agricultural and dairy area, it grew as the supply point for nearby Fort Riley,  - Skandale!

Chamber executive director Taryl Perry said the organization reconsidered its offer because it seemed unfair to allow only one of its many members to sell its own product in the chamber's booth, which sells Scandinavian Festival T-shirts.

The board passed a second motion saying it "did not wish to have any vendor at Festival sell their current product."

Vaughan said the controversial nature of the calendars prompted him to seek a full board vote on the Grange's request, which had been approved by the association's vendor chairwoman after polling the festival's executive board.

"They've all given us the cold shoulder," Pfeiffer wrote of the festival board and chamber decisions. "And we thought we were the only ones with cold shoulders around here."

No need to get drastic, Pfeiffer said.

"We will be very visible right outside the festival grounds selling our calendars," she said.
